Canmore Eagles Announce Organizational Changes Ahead of 2026-27 Season
CANMORE, AB — The Canmore Eagles are pleased to announce several organizational changes as the club prepares for the 2026-27 AJHL season and the challenge of defending its championship title.
As part of a restructuring of the Eagles’ hockey and business operations, the club has hired Kris Klein as Manager of Business and Media Operations.
Kris will take on a wide range of responsibilities within the organization, including sponsorship and sales support, business operations, social media, game-day operations and the Eagles’ game broadcasts.
A major part of Kris’s role will be overseeing and strengthening the Eagles’ game-day broadcast. The club sees significant opportunity to continue improving the quality and reach of its broadcasts while creating additional opportunities for sponsors and partners to connect with Eagles fans.
“We are very excited to welcome Kris to the organization,” said Eagles General Manager Andrew Milne. “As the business side of the Eagles continues to grow, bringing Kris on board will allow us to strengthen a number of important areas of the organization. His involvement with our broadcasts, sponsorships, social media and game-day operations will be a tremendous addition.”
The addition of Klein will also allow Milne to step away from some of the day-to-day business responsibilities when necessary and dedicate additional time to the Eagles’ hockey and coaching priorities.
The Eagles are also pleased to announce that Ayrton Chapman has been promoted to Assistant Coach for the upcoming season.
Chapman will work alongside the Eagles coaching staff as the organization continues to build on last season’s championship success.
In addition, Jay Bouwmeester will take on an expanded role with the organization, with an increased focus on player development and coaching consultation. Bouwmeester will continue to work closely with the Eagles’ players and coaching staff, providing his experience and knowledge as the club continues to develop its players both individually and as a team.
“These changes allow us to continue strengthening both sides of our organization,” said Milne. “We want to continue growing the business while making sure we are putting the necessary time and resources into our players, coaching staff and hockey operations. Ayrton has earned the opportunity to take on a larger coaching role, and having Jay continue to expand his involvement in player development and as a resource for our coaching staff is extremely valuable.”
The Eagles enter the 2026-27 season following a historic championship season and remain committed to building on that success both on and off the ice.
“We know defending a championship is going to be a tremendous challenge, and we are excited about it,” added Milne. “We believe these changes make our organization stronger and put our staff in positions where they can have the greatest impact.”
