The Canmore Eagles of the Alberta Junior Hockey League opened their 2014-15 training camp on Monday, August 25 under sunny skies and with high expectations for a great season.

More than 70 hopefuls went through fitness testing during the morning session which included testing in the long jump, triple jump, vertical jump, weight lifting, sit-ups, push-ups and a 12 minute endurance run.

The group will now be broken down into six seperate teams for the next couple of days, before being paired down to a roster of 40 for Wednesday night's annual Blue-White intersquad game.

“For the most part I was pleased with the fitness levels of our veteran players,” said Eagle's Head Coach and General Manager Andrew Milne, who has 16 returning veterans back at camp. “They look like they worked hard in the off-season and came to camp ready to go.”

“It's great to be back in Canmore and see all the fellows again,” said returning veteran Connor Wilson, who managed to record a stunning 99 push-ups in a one-minute span. ” We have a great group of players returning and I think we all have some high expectations for the team this season. We are all looking forward to getting the season underway!”
