The Canmore Eagles are extremely pleased to announce that Captain Jakob Lavoie has committed to Concordia College for the Fall of 2016.
The 20-year-old stay-at-home defenceman has played the past three seasons for the Eagles and has garnered 32 points in his 165 career games in the Alberta Junior Hockey League.
“As an organization we couldn't be happier for Jakob and his family as he has worked extremely hard and has been such a competitor for us the past few seasons,” said Eagles Head Coach and General Manager Andrew Milne. “It's great to see him have this opportunity and he is very deserving of it. Concordia is getting a great hockey player, but an even better person. We wish him the best of luck as he steps into the next chapter in his life as a student athlete.”
For Lavoie, who hails from St. Albert, the opportunity to go back to the Edmonton area to go to school and play hockey is a perfect fit.
“I’m very excited to have committed to Concordia, it’s a good school and close to home,” said the popular Eagle Captain. “I’m looking forward to continuing my hockey career at the college level and studying towards a Bachelor of Science degree.
“The past few years in Canmore have been a great experience for me and I’d like to thank the entire Eagles organization as well as Andrew Milne and Jeremy Reich.”
