Eagles add former Ice forward to lineup

The Canmore Eagles added some Western Hockey League experience to its roster this weekend.
The 2003-born Evan Waldie was a recent cut from the Winnipeg Ice, for which he played nine games last season but failed to register any points.
In his first game for the Eagles on Saturday, Oct. 9 against the Blackfalds Bulldogs, the six-foot, 180-pound, left-hand shot featured at right wing on a line with centre Kayden Smith and left winger Braden Plaschewsky.
Waldie failed to find the scoresheet, but his play did help his new teammates snap a five-game losing skid with a 5-0 win.
The native of Sherwood Park played for the OHA Edmonton U15 team that won the 2018 Canadian Sport School Hockey League championship, registering 20 goals and 40 points over 29 regular-season games and adding one goal and five assists in five playoff games.
Next up for Waldie and the Eagles is a double header with the Brooks Bandits at the Canmore Recreation Centre on Thursday, Oct. 14 and Friday, Oct. 15.   Game times are 7 p.m. with advance tickets available at canmoreeagles.com.
