EAGLES DROP 5-4 DECISON TO GRIZZLYS IN OLDS

NEXT GAME – At Fort McMurray – Sunday, Sept. 21
NEXT HOME GAME – Okotoks Oilers, Tuesday, September 23

The Olds Grizzlys used a three goal third period and connected for two power play goals to defeat the Canmore Eagles 5-4 in an Alberta Junior Hockey League game played Tuesday night in Olds.
The victory gives the Grizzlys a sweep of their early season home-and-home series as Olds took Game One in Canmore on Saturday night by a 6-4 score.
The Eagles early season record drops to 1-2, while the Grizzlys improved to 3-1-1.
Logan Ferguson (2), Ryley Risling (3), Jordan Revie (3) and Lane Olson (1) scored for the Eagles.
Canmore outshot the Grizzlys by a 38-33 margin on Tuesday night. Eagle’s netminder Ryan Ferguson took the loss and saw his early season record drop to 1-2. More concerning is the fact that the Eagles have given up a total of 16 goals against in just three games.
“We played a pretty sound road game and I don’t think we deserved to lose,” said Eagle’s Head Coach and General Manager Andrew Milne. “They capitalized on the power play and we came up a little short on our opportunities. We were a little sloppy in our defensive zone and we certainly need to address our goals against in order to win games. Defense is a total team commitment and consists of hard work and dedication which is something we can definitely address and improve on quickly.”
Canmore will now make the long journey north to face the nation’s #1 ranked club – the Fort McMurray Oil Barons on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 21). The Oil Barons are 4-1 on the season.
Canmore’s next home game is on Tuesday, September 23 when the Okotoks Oilers come to Canmore.
