The Canmore Eagles of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) are proud to announce that 1997-born forward Logan Ferguson (Calgary, AB.) has committed to attend the College of The Holy Cross, beginning in the 2017-18 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) season.
Located in Worchester, Massachusetts, the Holy Cross Crusaders play in NCAA Division 1 of the Atlantic Conference and are currently ranked as the #6 team in all of US College Hockey.
“Logan is very deserving of this opportunity with Holy Cross,” said Eagles Head Coach and General Manager Andrew Milne. “Since joining our organization last season he has done everything he could to help our organization both on and off the ice and he is a role model for all Junior A hockey players.
“I’m really happy for Logan and his family. Logan has put in the effort, worked hard, and it’s great to see him get rewarded for his efforts. Logan has a plan for his hockey career and this is certainly a significant step in the right direction for him.”
Ferguson, who is still just 18 years of age, put up 28 points in his rookie season with the Eagles last year but has really blossomed this season scoring 12 goals and adding 38 assists for 50 points in just 39 games played. He is currently in 7th place in the AJHL scoring parade.
“I would like to thank my team-mates for my success and I give them a lot of the credit for this scholarship – I couldn’t have done it without them,” said the humble 5’11, 180 lb Ferguson. “I am very excited to attend Holy Cross. “They have a great academic program, and an excellent hockey program, so it wasn’t very hard for me to accept their offer. I know a couple of other players there so I am very excited by the whole opportunity.”
Logan will remain with the Canmore Eagles for the remainder of this season and the upcoming 2016-17 AJHL season.
“I just have to keep working hard and get better as a player,” said Ferguson. “NCAA Division 1 hockey is very competitive and I know I have a lot of work to do to improve my game so that I will be ready when the time comes.”
