Mask up to support your Eagles

Hockey helmets save lives ““ and so do masks.
As the Canmore Eagles begin the home part of their Alberta Junior Hockey League schedule tonight, hosting the Calgary Canucks, 7 p.m. at the Recreation Centre, new province-wide regulations require all fans ““ four years and older ““ to mask up to take in sports and entertainment activities, that includes attending hockey games.
With the new regulations that came into effect this week, non-season ticket holders are encouraged to purchase game tickets online as venues will now be limited to one-third capacity, which in the case of the Eagles will be approximately 350 fans ““ the details are still being finalized with the Town of Canmore. Tickets can be purchased on the team”™s website: canmoreeagles.com.
“We fully support keeping our community safe, and with the masking now maybe we won”™t be shut down and not playing by the Christmas period,” said Eagles president Darryl Lockwood, reflecting on last season”™s aborted schedule. “Maybe now with these restrictions, we will see the (infection) rates go down, and we can get back to normal.”
A further provincially imposed restriction comes into effect at the Eagles”™ second home game of the season, Sunday, Sept. 26 at 2 p.m. against the expansion Blackfalds Bulldogs. All fans ““ 12 and over ““ will be required to show proof of vaccination along with their game ticket to gain admittance to the arena.
If you cann”™t make it to the arena, you can catch all Canmore Eagles home and away games and support the team through a subscription to HockeyTV at hockeytv.com.
