CANMORE EAGLES – 24/09/21-2

Tripped up on home ice

You could say the Blackfalds Bulldogs stole the bone on Sunday afternoon.
The Alberta Junior Hockey League expansion club skated out of Canmore with a 3-1 victory over the Eagles before 298 fans at the Recreation Centre on Sunday afternoon.
Most of the scoring came in the first period with the Bulldogs’ Kirk Mullen racking what proved to be the game winner with 10 seconds remaining. The big right winger grabbed the puck from the Canmore defence off a dump-in and in his next motion sent it high over Canmore goalkeeper Andreai Proctor-Ramirez’s left shoulder.
A pair of Carters opened the scoring. The visitors took the lead at 2:03 on a goal by Carter Yarish. The home team tied it up at 12:22 on a goal by Carter Myrol.
Jace Benvie added to the Bulldogs’ total with a left wing shot that just slid just past the stretched out left pad of past Proctor-Ramirez and into the far side of the goal at 3:38 of the third period.
Blackfalds outshot Canmore 37-33 with William Dyke in goal for the Bulldogs.
Neither team was able to capitalize on the power play, with the Eagles outchancing the Bulldogs 5-3, including one lengthy two-man advantage.
