OIL BARONS TOO MUCH FOR EAGLES

The Canmore Eagles give it a solid effort last night but came up a little short as they dropped a hard fought 4-2 decision to the hometown Fort McMurray Oil Barons before 1,544 fans at the Casman Centre.
With the victory, the Oil Barons improved their early season record to a perfect 7-0, while the Eagles record drops to 3-2.
The Eagles, who outshot the Oil Barons 37-33, received goals from Simon Philp (2nd) and Jordan Revie (1st).
“We played a good game but unfortunately we got the wrong result,” said Eagles Head Coach and General Manager Andrew Milne afterward. “We played hard against a very good team and controlled the pace of play for most of the night. We played a very strong depth game as we kept all four lines rolling. If we play 55 more games like that, we will be on the winning end of a lot of games this year. I am proud of our effort and level of compete that we showed tonight.”
The Eagles next game is Tuesday night, September 24 when they host the always physical Olds Grizzlys (2-5) at the Canmore Recreation Centre. Game time is 7 pm.
