A four-goal second period sent the Okotoks Oilers to their second win in a row over the Canmore Eagles on Friday night.

Playing the back half a home-and-home set in Okotoks, the Oilers raced out to a 5-0 lead en route to a 6-2 victory in this Alberta Junior Hockey League clash before 572 fans.

Tucker Bender scored twice for the home team, with singles from Rhett Gardner, Eric Kreinke, Kevin Jenken and Mitch Collett.

Canmore goals came from Simon Philp and Joe Serpico.

Okotoks led 1-0 after one period and 5-1 after 40 minutes. An empty net goal wrapped up the scoring.

Ryan Ferguson started in goal and gave up three goals on 14 shots before giving way to 16-year-old Adam Marcoux, a standout in training camp, who made 19 saves on 21 shots over the final 34 minutes.

Canmore’s record is now 12 wins, 14 losses and one shootout defeat and remain in sixth place in the South Division.

The Eagles head to Calgary on Tuesday to take on the Mustangs.
