Sam Witt signs with the Eagles

CANMORE, AB (July 18th 2019)

Sam Witt (Calgary, AB) is joining the Eagles organization fresh off of an Alberta Midget Hockey League Championship and a trip to the National Championship Telus Cup.

Witt, an ?01 defenceman from the Calgary Buffalos Midget AAA program, appeared in 45 games for his team after returning from injury to start the season. During the 27 regular-season games, Witt produced 8 points and in 18 playoff games, including the Telus Cup, he scored 1 goal and added 7 assists while tasked with shutting down the oppositions top players. Witt also captured a league championship the season prior with the midget AA Calgary Blackhawks.

?Sam is a strong defender in every sense,” said Eagles Assistant Coach / Assistant GM Evan McFeeters. “He is a big and physically strong player that skates well and plays the game with detail. He takes pride in defending his blue line and the front of his net, he stops teams from cycling and can counter-attack with smart outlet passing. Our staff watched Sam closely throughout the season and there was no question that he had a huge influence in his team?s success. We are adding another proven player that brings the important intangibles that are key for success in meaningful games.?
