Tripped up on home ice

You could say the Blackfalds Bulldogs stole the bone on Sunday afternoon.
The Alberta Junior Hockey League expansion club skated out of Canmore with a 3-1 victory over the Eagles before 298 fans at the Recreation Centre on Sunday afternoon.
Most of the scoring came in the first period with the Bulldogs”™ Kirk Mullen racking what proved to be the game winner with 10 seconds remaining. The big right winger grabbed the puck from the Canmore defence off a dump-in and in his next motion sent it high over Canmore goalkeeper Andreai Proctor-Ramirez”™s left shoulder.
A pair of Carters opened the scoring. The visitors took the lead at 2:03 on a goal by Carter Yarish. The home team tied it up at 12:22 on a goal by Carter Myrol.
Jace Benvie added to the Bulldogs”™ total with a left wing shot that just slid just past the stretched out left pad of past Proctor-Ramirez and into the far side of the goal at 3:38 of the third period.
Blackfalds outshot Canmore 37-33 with William Dyke in goal for the Bulldogs.
Neither team was able to capitalize on the power play, with the Eagles outchancing the Bulldogs 5-3, including one lengthy two-man advantage.
The Eagles (2-2-0) head to Brooks this coming weekend for the annual AJHL Showcase, with games Saturday, Oct. 2 at 4:30 p.m. against the Drayton Valley Thunder and Sunday, Oct. 3 at 10:30 a.m. versus the Whitecourt Wolverines.
