TWO HUGE HOME GAMES THIS WEEKEND!

If you’re looking to witness some of the best junior hockey that Alberta has to offer, make sure you head down to the Canmore Recreation Centre this weekend for a pair of critical games for the Canmore Eagles of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.
With just 14 games remaining on their 2013-14 schedule, this weekend’s two home games will be pivotal as the Eagles attempt to track down home-ice advantage for the upcoming AJHL playoffs.
Here is brief “Tale of the Tape” for this weekend’s home games. Both games start at 7 PM

FRIDAY, JANUARY 24 – DRUMHELLER DRAGONS VS CANMORE EAGLES  


DRUMHELLER DRAGONS – The Drumheller Dragons currently sit in second-place in the AJHL Southern Division standings with a record of 26-14-5 and 57 points. . .The Dragons have the best road record in the AJHL’s Southern Division going 14-8-0 this season. . .The Dragons have defeated the Canmore Eagles nine times in their past 10 games, including a three-game sweep in last year’s playoffs. The Eagles lone victory over the Dragons was on Jan. 3, 2014 when they defeated the Dragons 3-2 at the Canmore Recreation Centre. . . Drumheller has won 3 out of the first 4 games between the two teams this season. . .Drumheller will come to Canmore full of confidence after defeating the Southern Division leading Brooks Bandits 2-1 on Tuesday night. . .Drumheller is 6-4 in their last 10 games.

 

SATURDAY, JANUARY 25 – SHERWOOD PARK CRUSADERS VS CANMORE EAGLES


SHERWOOD PARK CRUSADERS – The Sherwood Park Crusaders currently sit in fourth-place in the AJHL Northern Division standings with a record of 23-21-2 and 48 points. . . The Crusaders defeated the Canmore Eagles 7-5 in Sherwood Park in their only meeting this season on Dec. 14, 2013. . .The Crusaders are playing some of their best hockey of the season going 7-3 in their last 10 games. . .The Crusaders feature a couple of notable players as Sean MacTavish (Craig’s son) and Dane Phaneuf (Dion’s brother) are both on the active roster.

CANMORE EAGLE’S NOTEBOOK: The Canmore Eagles currently sit in third-place in the AJHL Southern Division standings with a record of 26-17-3 and 55 points. . . The  Eagles have the best home record in the AJHL’s Southern Division going 17-4-1 this season. . . The Eagles come into the weekend riding a four-game winning streak, including three straight road victories. . . The Eagles are 7-2-1 in their last 10 games. . . Eagle defenceman Trey Phillips leads the AJHL in scoring by a d-man with 48 points. . . Eagle forward Connor Wilson leads the AJHL in assists with 35.
