Vincent Scott Awarded AJHL Inter Pipeline Scholarship

Canmore Eagles Captain Vincent Scott is the recipient of the 2023 Inter Pipeline AJHL Scholarship.  The $1,500 scholarship is awarded to the player deemed most deserving among the applicants based on their proven qualities in the areas of leadership, sportsmanship, dedication and citizenship.

“Vincent was a first-class member of our organization since acquiring him in a trade from the Sherwood Park Crusaders,” said Eagles Assistant Coach Bryan Arneson.  “It is not only our opinion of how valuable Vincent’s leadership, friendship and sportsmanship was within our locker room, billet houses and community, but also that of his peers when first entertaining the thought of bringing him to Canmore. Many former teammates, coaches and team personnel gave glowing recommendations of his character, which contributed to him ultimately becoming a Canmore Eagle and then being our Captain in his final season of junior eligibility. His final season and future successes are directly correlated to his continued dedication to the sport, leadership qualities and being a good person in the game of hockey.”

“Throughout his two years as part of the Canmore Eagles, Vincent was able to help individuals around him reach their full potential as an Eagle and lay the foundation for younger athletes whose junior career would continue in his absence. Being a calming voice in the room, trustful teammate, leader through experience and example, he would lean on his time within the league and showed everyone around him how to live the right way each day and make no exceptions of the ‘above the clouds’ lifestyle as we looked to achieve our collective goals. Develop, grow and execute from beginning of the season until it’s end.”

“As a teacher and mentor to Vincent, I have had the pleasure of working with him throughout his high school career, and I can attest to his academic achievement, positive attitude, and excellent school citizenship,” stated Warren Sanregret, Hockey Academy Director, St. Francis Xavier High School.  “Vincent was a member of our Hockey Academy and during his final year was awarded the Silver Stick Award. This award represents the top athlete and citizen in our hockey academy. Vincent demonstrated exceptional effort and talent on a daily basis while on the ice and was also a model student.”

“Vincent has consistently shown outstanding academic performance throughout his high school career. He is a dedicated and diligent student who consistently produces high-quality work. He has a thirst for knowledge and is always eager to learn, often going above and beyond what is expected of him to ensure his understanding of the material.  Beyond his academic prowess, Vincent possesses an exceptional attitude that makes him a joy to work with. He is kind, respectful, and compassionate towards his peers and teachers, always willing to lend a hand or offer support whenever needed.”

“His academic achievements, positive attitude, and school citizenship are exemplary and will undoubtedly be a huge asset for MacEwan University.”

Vincent Scott (Edmonton, AB) played four AJHL seasons between the Sherwood Park Crusaders and Canmore Eagles; the 2002-born forward recorded 109 points in 174 regular season games.
