Defenceman Dylan Witzke commits to Dartmouth College
The Canmore Eagles are pleased to announce that 18-year-old Defenceman Dylan Witzke has committed to Dartmouth College for the 2021-22 season. Dartmouth College, located in the small town of Hanover in New Hampshire is an NCAA Ivy League and Division I program and they play in the Eastern College Athletic Conference.
?Our organization is extremely proud and really happy for Dylan and his commitment, he is such a great example that if you put in the work and commit yourself to your goals that things will work out,? says Eagles Head Coach and General Manager Andrew Milne. ?He has been extremely diligent in this process with his work both on the ice and in the classroom. The entire organization wants to thank Dylan and his family for their belief in our program and wish him all the best when he starts his NCAA career?.
Witzke who is entering his 2nd season with the Eagles had a strong rookie campaign in the 2019-20 season as picked up 5 goals and 40 points in 54 games. Prior to joining the Eagles, the smooth-skating and skilled Defenceman spent his minor hockey career with the Calgary Buffaloes organization. In the 2018-19 season when playing Midget AAA, he got to play in a national championship, the Telus Cup, in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
?I?m very humbled and excited about being able to commit,? says Witzke. ?It has been my dream for as long as I can remember and am very blessed that I was able to do so. I was lucky to have a lot of people help me along the way (coaches, teammates, and trainers) and believe in me as a player?.
Choosing Dartmouth was an easy decision for Witzke.
?All along I knew I wanted to go Ivy League and Dartmouth offered the classes I wanted to take in College,? says Witzke?. ?As well as the coaching staff they have at Dartmouth is incredible and made it an even easier decision for me?.
It is unknown as when the AJHL season will get underway, but Coach Milne has high expectations for Witzke going in his Sophomore season with the Eagles.
?We have high expectations for Dylan as he continues his development in preparation for his NCAA career,? says Coach Milne. ?His experience playing in all situations last season and the success will be something to build off this season?.
The Canmore Eagles would like to congratulate Dylan and the Witzke family on his NCAA commitment.
