Eagles close out home portion of regular season

The Brooks Bandits weren’t in a giving mood as they took on the Eagles in the final home game of the Alberta Junior Hockey League season in Canmore.

The visitors stole out of town Wednesday (March 1) with all the points and all the goals in a 4-0 victory. Goals came from Luke Bibby in the first period, Caelan Fiitzpatrick and Brendan Poshak in the second period, and Dario Beljo in the third period.

Wilson Maxfiel recorded the shutout for Brooks, making 34 saves, while Andreai Proctor-Ramirez in goal for Canmore faced 42 shots.

On the power play, Brooks was 1-for-3 and Canmore was 0-for-5.

Brooks (59-5-1-1), the No. 1 team in the Canadian Junior Hockey League rankings, won five of six games between the two teams over the course of the season.

Canmore (23-31-2-2) is sixth in the South Division with two regular-season games remaining. Canmore heads to Blackfalds on Friday to take on the Bulldogs then take on the Kodiaks in Camrose on Saturday. Both games have 7 p.m. start times.

Canmore is set to take on the third-place Okotoks Oilers (34-21-1-2) in the first-round of the AJHL playoffs, with the schedule yet to be released.
