The Canmore Eagles welcome the Camrose Kodiaks to Alex Kaleta Arena Friday night for the first of two consecutive meetings at the Nest.

Canmore enters the weekend with seven wins through 10 games and a 5–1 home record. Camrose arrives looking to turn close games into victories after suffering four shootout defeats in its opening 11 contests.

Here is tonight’s Tale of the Tape.

CONFIDENCE IN THE CREASE

The Eagles are blessed with another solid goaltending tandem this season, with Hudson Sedo and Steven Wawryk giving Canmore two dependable options.

Sedo has handled the larger workload, posting a 6–2 record, 3.13 goals-against average and .895 save percentage in eight appearances. Wawryk has recorded a 1–1 mark, 2.42 GAA and .922 save percentage, stopping 59 of 64 shots through two appearances.

With games on consecutive nights, having confidence in both goaltenders is valuable. The Eagles will look to support whoever gets the start by limiting second chances and keeping the most dangerous opportunities away from the middle of the ice.

ROOKIE ROGERS LEADS THE KODIAKS

Jake Rogers has wasted little time making an impact in the AJHL.

The rookie forward leads Camrose with three goals and nine assists for 12 points in 11 games. He also sits atop the league’s rookie scoring race and shares the rookie assists lead.

His playmaking ability makes No. 13 a player to watch whenever the Kodiaks gain possession in the offensive zone. Canmore will need to take away passing lanes and avoid giving him time to find teammates in scoring positions.

ANOTHER CLOSE CONTEST?

The first meeting between these clubs came down to the final minute.

Canmore earned a 4–3 victory on September 19, with Bryson Insinger scoring the winner with just 54 seconds remaining. The late goal provided a dramatic finish to the Eagles’ season opener and championship banner night.

The Kodiaks’ record offers another reminder that they have been difficult to put away. Despite having two victories, Camrose has collected points in six of its 11 games.

For the Eagles, the challenge is to establish their pace early and maintain it. Winning puck battles, getting traffic to the net and making clean exits from the defensive zone will help Canmore avoid another finish that hangs in the balance until the closing seconds.

The teams meet again Saturday night, making Friday an opportunity to set the tone for the weekend.
