Ong Commits to Yale University

 


CANMORE, AB (Jan 22nd, 2018) – The Canmore Eagles are proud to announce that Quinton Ong has committed to attend and play for the NCAA Division 1 Yale University Bulldogs (ECAC), starting the 2019-2020 season.

Ong, 18, (Saskatoon, SK) a highly touted minor hockey product of the Saskatoon Midget ‘AAA’ Contacts joined the Canmore Eagles at the start of the 2017-18 season. Prior to his commitment to Yale University, Ong has amassed 14 goals and 26 points in his rookie season.  

“We are extremely excited for Quinton and his family,” said Head Coach and GM Andrew Milne, “He has worked tremendously hard both on and off the ice to accomplish this goal and we are happy for his success.  Quinton is a high impact player and we look forward to watching him develop the remaining games this season and next before he makes the jump to College hockey.”

The Yale Bulldogs are an Ivy League University competing in the Eastern College Athletic Conference. Yale is a three-time Cleary Cup Champion, a two time ECAC Champion and won the NCAA National Championship in 2013. 

Ong is the third Canmore Eagle to commit to a NCAA Div 1 University in the Eastern College Athletic Conference within the past year. Joining former Eagles Adam Tisdale (Clarkson) and Matt Forchuk (Quinnipiac).
