Next Home Game – Wednesday, November 19 – Okotoks Oilers – 7 PM

It’s going to be a very special evening at the Canmore Recreation Centre for at least two lucky fans when the Canmore Eagles take on the visiting Okotoks Oilers in Alberta Junior Hockey League Southern Division action on Wednesday evening.
With over 100 out-of-town delegates from the Canada West Marketplace convention expected in the stands, the Eagles are making it a special night by guaranteeing a winning purse of at least $1,000 in the Boston Pizza “50-50” draw.
The Eagles will also pick the winning ticket from their Chicago Sports Weekend raffle draw during the first intermission. The winner from the sold-out raffle will receive return airfare from Calgary to Chicago, two tickets to the NFL game between the Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys (Dec. 4), two tickets to the NHL game between the Chicago Blackhawks and Montreal Canadiens (Dec. 5), three nights downtown Chicago accommodation and $500 in spending money.
“It’s certainly going to be a very entertaining night at the Rec. Centre –  that’s for sure,” said Eagles President Darryl Lockwood. “Someone is going to go home at least a $1,000 richer and someone is going to be taking their best friend on a great road trip to Chicago to see some excellent pro games in both the NFL and NHL. On top of that, they're going to see a great AJHL game between two rival teams.”
In their two games played against each other to date, the Eagles won 5-2 in Canmore on September 23, and the Oilers bounced back for a 2-1 victory in Okotoks on October 24.
The Oilers (17-7-3) have been on a great roll since acquiring goaltender Nic Renyard from the Victoria Grizzlys of the British Columbia Hockey League in late September. The 5’11 netminder has gone an incredible 14-1-1 in his 16 starts and has recorded three shut-outs, a goals against average of just 1.55, and a save percentage of .947. Reynard was also named the AJHL’s “Star of the Month” for the month of October.
The Eagles (12-12-1) are also playing some solid hockey of late picking up points in four of their last five games and are currently riding a two-game winning streak. Eagle goaltender Ryan Ferguson, an AJHL Southern Division all-star last season, has now fully recovered from an ankle injury and has been rock solid for the Eagles over the past two weeks.
Game time is 7 PM.
