EAGLES NO MATCH FOR KODIAKS

NEXT HOME GAME – Tuesday, Feb. 5 versus Drumheller Dragons – 7 PM

The Canmore Eagles had a tough weekend on the road as they dropped a pair of games to the Camrose Kodiaks in Alberta Junior Hockey League action in Camrose.
The Kodiaks downed the Eagles 6-2 on Friday night and followed it up with a 5-1 victory on Saturday night. Both games were played in front of approximately 1,500 fans.
The Eagles and Kodiaks have now completed their regular season schedule against each other with the Kodiaks winning five of the six games played.
Mattia Bortolotto (5) and Luke Simpson (19) had the Eagle goals on Friday night, while Simpson (20) had the only Eagle goal on Saturday night.
The Kodiaks were dominant on the weekend as they outshot the Eagles 32-17 on Friday night, and 41-21 on Saturday night.
With the two losses, Canmore’s record drops to 21-23-5. The Eagles have 47 points, good enough for fifth-place in the AJHL Southern Division standings. Canmore is five points behind the fourth-place Drumheller Dragons in the battle for fourth-place and home ice advantage in the first-round of the upcoming AJHL playoffs. The Eagles still enjoy a game in hand on the Dragons and will meet Drumheller three times in the next month.
The Eagles and Drumheller will meet on Tuesday night Feb. 5 in a key match-up at the Canmore Recreation Centre. Game time is 7 pm.
