A QUICK CHANCE TO RESPOND

For the first time this season, the Eagles enter a game looking to rebound from a defeat. Whitecourt Wolverines handed Canmore a 5-3 loss Saturday night, ending the Eagles’ four-game winning streak to open the season.

Sunday against Devon offers an immediate opportunity to respond, with the focus on getting back to a hard-working, Eagles’ brand of hockey.

TOP LINE STARTING TO ROLL

The Eagles’ top line of Cohen Daoust, Aidan Tkachuk and Ryder Dembo is starting to find its rhythm, with all three scoring in Saturday’s game against Whitecourt.

Daoust has been particularly dangerous, scoring five goals over his last three games. Tkachuk also contributed a goal and an assist against the Wolverines, bringing his season totals to three goals and five assists. He is currently tied with Daoust in points.

Dembo rounded out the line’s production with his first goal of the season and an assist Saturday. He now has one goal and four assists for five points, adding another offensive option to a combination that is starting to click.

HEAD TO HEAD MATCH UP

The Eagles and Xtreme split their four meeting last season, each winning twice. Devon is current off to one of their best starts in franchise history, sitting with a 3-2 record, after defeating Drumheller 4-3 in overtime last night. Veteran forward Maddox Mason scored the winner.

That recent history gives the Eagles plenty of reason to approach Devon with urgency.
