Scott scores two as Eagles double Canucks

The Canmore Eagles evened their Alberta Junior Hockey League pre-season account at one win and one loss with a 4-2 victory over the Calgary Canucks on Saturday (Sept. 3).

Played at the Canmore Recreation Centre, Vincent Scott scored two goals for the hometown team, with Kai Billey and Riley Dekowny potting goals.

Calgary’s goals came from Jordan MacFarlane and Sam Callahan.

Canmore was 1-for-5 on the power play, with Calgary going 1-for-7.

The shots on goal were 39-29 for Canmore with Matthew Malin followed by Andreai Proctor-Ramirez splitting the goaltending duties for the Eagles. Connor Martin went the distance for the Canucks.

The Canucks defeated the Eagles 4-2 on Friday (Sept. 2) in Calgary. Dylan Bidyk and Cole Wirun scored for the Eagles.

Next up for Canmore is a doubleheader with the Olds Grizzlys to complete their pre-season schedule, with games in Olds on Wednesday (Sept. 7) and Friday in Canmore (Sept. 9). Game times are 7 p.m.

The Canmore Eagles’ 60-game regular season begins Friday, Sept. 17 at home to the Drumheller Dragons.
