Two former Canmore Eagles enjoyed a great week financially as they both received scholarship funds from the Friends of Alberta Junior Hockey Society.
Both Jeremy Gordon and Jordon Revie were successful in their applications and both received notice that financial assistance for their schooling was on the way.
The Friends of the Alberta Junior Hockey Society announced earlier this week that $58,000 was distributed in scholarships for the 2015-2016 season. The annual scholarships are awarded to junior hockey players, alumni, trainers, and on-ice officials. Twelve AJHL alumni and one AJHL linesman were amongst this year's recipient. The Friends of Alberta Junior Hockey Society scholarship program has awarded $759,000 in scholarships since it began in 1983.
“I would just like to say thanks to the AJHL and the Friends of Alberta Junior Hockey Society as this contribution is greatly appreciated,” said Gordon, who played for the Eagles from 2011-2015. Gordon is currently enrolled at the Haskayne School of Business at U of C.
“I’m very grateful to be able to receive one of these scholarships as everyone knows any sort of money towards school goes a long way,” said Revie, who played for the Eagles from 2012-2015. “I wouldn’t be eligible for this if it weren’t for the Canmore Eagles so I’d like to thank them for three great years playing for a great organization. Revie is currently studying Business Automotive at SAIT.
