LOOKING FOR NEW 2013-14 BILLET FAMILIES

The Canmore Eagles are currently looking for a few good billet homes for some of our visiting hockey players to reside during the upcoming 2013-14 AJHL hockey season.
Billet families receive special perks like season tickets for all family members, 10% off on groceries at the Canmore Sobey's store, and a $350 grocery payment per month to help offset bigger food bills.
The player's season usually runs from late August to the end of March, depending on our playoff success. The players don’t spend a lot of time hanging around the house as they fully committed to practicing their skills at the rink, playing games on the road, helping out in the community, and have two weeks off to return to their real home during the Christmas holidays.
“Having a billet stay at your home can be a tremendously rewarding experience and is also critically important to the success of our hockey club,” said Eagle’s President Darryl Lockwood, who has billeted many Eagle players throughout the years. “The players become part of your family and kind of become big brothers to your children.  Our players come into our billet’s lives at an early, impressionable age and leave as young men. It’s rewarding to see the players develop, both on and off the ice. Even after the players have left the club upon graduation, many families keep in touch with their players as they move through the ranks of college and professional hockey many years later.”
